Activity 1: Spatial Planning and Spatial Research - Projects

Ufo Working Group: The New Main Railway Station of the City of Dortmund (1999)

Different authors took an unequivocal stand on the outline plans for a new main railway station fort he city of Dortmund, which was supposed to combine traffic functions with a modern urban entertainment centre (Ufo). The working group assessed the impacts of the new railway station on different aspects such as the general urban development, integration in the urban context, functional integration, retail development and transport. The latter issue was jointly analysed by Klaus Spiekermann (S&W) and Carsten Schürmann. The results of the working group assessments are published as Volume 169 of the IRPUD working paper series.
