This kartographic project was concerned with the generation of base maps for the Central Baltic Sea Region, which illustrate
- the spatial coverage and delineation of different support programms;
- the existing basic transport infrastructures, such as trunk roads, main railway lines, airports and flight routes, ports and shipping routes, facilities for higher education;
- the system and hierarchy of cities, including the capital cities and regional sub-centers;
- socio-demographic indicators.
All maps were derived, and were based, on the spatial geodatabases available at Nordregio and RRG. RRG was responsible for the generation of the infrastructure maps and maps illustrating the system and hierarchy of cities and towns.
