RSA Conference 2017 - Prosentation on Inner Peripheries
06/10/2017
Interim results of the ESPON PROFECY project on the identification, delineation and description of inner peripheries in Europe were presented at the annual conference of the Regional Science Association (RSA) in Dublin as part of a special session on spatial reorganization and the growing importance of relative proximity by the project team, presented by Joan Noguera (project manager, University of Valencia), Carsten Schürmann, Andrew Peltier (Nordregio), Mar Ortega-Reig (University of Valencia) and Thomas Dax (BABF). Inner peripheries are in various respects disadvantaged areas that are surrounded by prosperous ones. Inner peripheries are therefore not found in the classical peripheral areas of Europe, but also in various forms in its geographical centre. The project attempts to identify and analyse these areas and to describe them in terms of the processes and drivers that take place there.
