01/29/2010
A new article by Bröcker, Korzhenevych and Schürmann just published in Transportation Research Part B analysis spatial equity (cohesion effects) and overall economic efficiency of the trans-European Transport Network projects (TEN-T). The paper is based upon the results of the European Union 5th RTD Programm project FUNDING. It analysis which European regions are likely to economically benefit from each individual prioritised TEN-T project, and which region does not. It also adresses the question which transport project reduced spatial disparities, that way contributing to the European Union policy objective of cohesion. Furthermore, the article tries to answer the question which project of the overall list of TEN-T projects can be considered a candidate for financial EC support, and which project is not.
