RRG GIS Database Updates and Licenses
12/15/2011
The RRG GIS Database has been updated continuously in the past year in major directions. The database success is not the least illustrated by the number of new clients over the last months who licensed the overall database or licensed parts thereof.
Apart from the general regular database updates of the road and railway networks in the lath twelve months, a number of major enhancements have been implemented to the RRG GIS Database, which are:
- Tram, light rail, urban rail and subway networks for a number of cities have been added to the railway network.
- A significant number of new seaports, inland ports and shipping routes have been added to the waterway networks, now newly covering the Black Sea, Caspian Sea and the Red Sea.
- A new layer on freight villages in Europe has been added to the database.
- A complete update of the airport layer was conducted, which also includes the addition of a great number of smaller airports in many parts of the world.
The success of this comprehensive transport GIS databank is not the least illustrated by the number of new clients who for the first time licensed layers of the RRG GIS Database.
New clients include, inter alias, the London School of Economics (LSE), the TH Wildau, the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and Ifsttar UR Splott in Paris.
RRG committes itself in the coming months to continue updates and enhancements of this database with highest professional standards.
