Client:  ESPON Coordination Unit (Luxembourg)
Partner:  S&W Urban and Regional Research (S&W) (Dortmund)

RRG was commissioned by ESPON, in cooperation with Spiekermann&Wegener Urban and Regional Research (S&W), to update accessibility indicators and travel time matrices at NUTS-3 level for Europe. The indicators and matrices are to be generated and analysed for different years, based upon the RRG GIS Database. The study is divided into the following six work packages:

  1. Production of travel time matrices, including data collection and harmonisation creating time series

  2. Building accessibility potential indicators for the most recent year available (2014)

  3. Recreation of ESPON indicators on potential accessibility indicators for 2001, 2006, 2011 to NUTS 2010 version

  4. Production and updating of the ESPON maps (NUTS 2010) corresponding to Task 2 and Task 3

  5. Production and creation of maps (NUTS 2010) showing the changes on accessi-bility both in absolute and relative terms

  6. Analysing the territorial dynamics and trends

Besides the processing and provision of the necessary GIS transport networks, RRG is involved in all six work packages.
