The project under leadership of the Nordic Centre for Spatial Development, Nordregio, Stockholm, develops a territorial monitoring system for the Baltic Sea Region in order to provide knowledge to the ongoing process of territorial cohesion, in close cooperation with the VASAB committee.
The aim of the project is to develop a territorial monitoring system for the BSR based on selected core indicators. The scope of the monitoring framework will be based on political and scientific documents in the field of territorial development and cohesion. Selected indicators reflecting the specifities of the Baltic Sea Region will, in a first step, be selected through stakeholder consultations.
The monitoring system will develop an appropriate concept for visualisation and presentation, including maps, charts, diagrams and tables. Also, the project will test the systems in 3-5 thematic fields (in one or more regions) to show its analytical capability and to produce a handbook or manual for using and maintaining the system.
Apart from data collection tasks, RRG is mainly responsible for the development and implementation of the visualization and presentation modules.
