The Government of Tanzania intends to better integrate its northern Mara region with its capital Musoma with the Arusha region and with the rest of Tanzania. The provision of adequate transport infrastructure is a pre-supposition to reach this goal. First ideas for construction of a gravel road through UNESCO Natural World Heritage Serengeti National Park (SENAPA) were reconsidered due to international pressure. Mr. Schürmann, as part of an expert team of TCP International, is evaluating alternative solutions on behalf of the KfW to improve transport connections and thus accessibility of northern regions while presering the Serengeti as much as possible.
Mr. Schürmann is responsible for data collection, data processing, GIS analyses and accessibility analyses, as well as for mapping.
